UK Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) services from aento

Search Engine Optimisation

Over 70% of people looking for new products and services, start their search online. Let our UK based Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) service ensure that you can be found.

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Traditionally, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), is the term used for manipulating or editing a web site (content, inbound and outbound links, etc) such that it can be easily found, indexed and rated highly for specific search terms with major search engines.

A lot of companies offering Search Engine Optimisation services (SEO) in the UK will lead you to believe that good SEO is a bit like tax avoidance, a never ending battle between you and the search engines (or you and the government in the case of tax avoidance). You can tweak your website in a certain way to get high placements on google and then, suddenly, without warning, google changes its algorithms in a vindictive attempt to push you to the back of the search results queue.

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth.  All search engines want to deliver good results for their users.  In essence, the search engines take the search term entered by the user and try to return the most relevant and authorative web pages it can find.  Each search engine may use a slightly different search algorithm but the objective for each is the same. It is in the search engine's interest to return great results because that is what keeps users coming back, which in turn allows the search engine to maintain relevance and maximise its advertising revenue.

Organic Search Engine Optimisation vs Paid Results

Organic search engine results are those that appear "naturally" on the search page based solely upon the quality, authority and relevance of the web page as determined by the search engine. For example, if you were to search for "office software", you might expect web pages related to Microsoft Office or the freeware OpenOffice to feature on the first page of results because these are the most popular office software suites on the market.

Paid results are essentially advertisements that you will also see on the search results page. Paid results are typically known as "Pay Per Click (PPC)" because the owner of the advertisement does not pay the search engine to display the ad but only pays if someone "clicks" on the ad to visit his website.

Most website owners and managers view achieving a top ten organic search engine results placement as the holy grail of website search engine optimization work and we wouldn't disagree. After all, once achieved, organic results are free and many searchers will naturally favour organic results over PPC results or other advertisements.

However, depending on your business and market, PPC should not be disregarded. PPC can be extremely useful in getting you onto page one of results pages quickly. It can be very useful as an interim measure to immediately improve your website traffic whilst other measures to improve your organic search engine placements are being evaluated and implemented.

The Holistic Approach to Search Engine Optimization

So, here's the thing. Nowadays, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) really just means good marketing. It starts with identifying exactly who and what your target market is, it continues by building a great web site that really communicates your business, products and services well and it builds over time by on-going communication, engagement and interaction with your market.

Sounds complicated? It's really not, but it can take some effort and focus to achieve. That's where aento can help.

Initial Analysis

We will work with you to identify:

  • Your business objectives for your website.
  • Your target market(s) both demographic and geographic.
  • How people try to find your business on the web, i.e. what search phrases (keywords) do people use.
  • Your online competitors and their performance.
  • Areas for improvement in your website performance against your business objectives.
  • Identify resources you already have, i.e. existing contacts, business partnerships, trade memberships, etc. that can be used to boost your online presence.

Planning a SEO campaign

We will work with you to identify:

  • A measurable set of achievable objectives for your website performance.
  • A content structure for your website that matches the objectives set.
  • A plan for developing your online community and building your online reputation in line with your objectives.
  • A plan to keep your website and content fresh over time, i.e. content management, blogs, news, forums, surveys, social media etc.
  • A plan for measuring performance over time of your website (and those of your competitors).
  • Use of interim measures such as Pay Per Click advertising.

Initial Implementation

We will work with you to

  • Re-develop your existing website or develop a new website that implements the content structure devised during the planning phase. Ensure that technical design of the web site facilitates search engine indexing.
  • Implement any further online tools such as blogs, forums, surveys, news feeds etc. to support building your online reputation.
  • Submission of your re-developed website to major search engines.
  • List your website with appropriate business directories and professional catalogues.
  • Initial monitoring of pages, blog articles, etc. indexed by search engines.
  • Setup of any interim measures such as Pay Per Click advertising.

Reputation Building

We will work with you to

  • Regularly update your website content
  • Regularly publish and promote blog posts
  • Use social media on a regular basis to grow your audience and build your reputation
  • Run surveys
  • Manage forums

Monitoring & Analysis

We can provide, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly monitoring of your website performance, e.g.

  • Page rank and Search Engine Results position for tracked web pages
  • Website visitor analytics, page views, unique visitors, traffic sources, entry pages, exit pages, most popular content, etc.
  • Social media performance
  • Competitor analysis
  • To do list to improve performance.

The great thing about working with aento is that we're flexible. Not everything mentioned above would be applicable to every business. Your plan to develop your online presence should be as unique as your business and we recognise that. You also may have in-house resources that can do much of the work required. If so, that's great. We don't get hung up on insisting we do everything. We're happy to work alongside whatever resource you have available. Actually, just as you would never stop marketing your business, you really should never stop working on your online presence. As such, if you have resource in-house that can work alongside aento, they can pick things up from us as work progresses and eventually take over the entire process.

How long before you can expect results?

This really depends on your business, your target market(s) and how competitive those target market(s) are online. In most cases, we can show demonstrable progress within 4 to 6 weeks from Initial Implementation. In every case, we'll give you an honest appraisal of how long it is going to take to achieve your objectives during the Initial Analysis phase.

How much does it cost?

We have packages starting from as little as £250 for small businesses seeking to excel in a local market.  Ultimately, the cost of a SEO campaign will depend on the complexity of your business and your web presence and the market(s) you need to improve your presence in.  For example, becoming number one for providing a service in your local town, city or country is going to cost less and be achieved more quickly than trying to dominate a global marketplace.  In every case, we will work with you up front to establish a strategy that will work for your business and set realistic goals and expectations based on your budget. We don't believe in "hard sell" so please feel free to contact us for a friendly chat through your requirements and we'll let you know if we can help.
